Choosing a career can be difficult in the sense that with so many options, it might look complicated to make a decision. On the other hand,
every human on this planet needs clean water to live, as water represents a primary resource. Climate change, manifested with higher and
lower rainfall patterns and higher summer temperatures has been posing a major challenge for water management across the EU, putting a lot
of stress on scarce resources.
Labour market needs are confronted with the introduction of new technologies, fostering the development of emerging skills needed in the
water sector, for the green transition of the water and wastewater industry. The water industry has been facing difficulties in finding proper
qualified workers to meet all technological demands.
Adapting Workforces for a Green Economy
The demographic profile is characterised by an aging population, resulting from the decrease in birth rates and the increase in the number of elderly people. Consequently, the present demographic changes will have in the near future a great impact on the composition of the workforce.
Action is needed and therefore INADE aims at raising awareness about the need of skilled workforce in the field of environment / water treatment / management, and at building capacity to work transnationally. Encouraging dialogue between the GREEN TECH sector, education and enterprises is essential not only to bring training closer to the environment, but mostly to share knowledge, develop green skills leading to new business models.
